Building simple expressions

An expression can be a simple link to a variable in your project, an input or output of any step of your project, or an equation for combining inputs and outputs, for example, specifying an offset or an average. Expressions can be comprised of numbers, strings, booleans, or objects.

The Advanced editor of the Configuration pane displays lists of operators and functions from which you can build simple and more complex expressions. Functions can return a value when given inputs; for example, the function SQRT. Matrox Design Assistant provides many functions that you can use within expressions. These functions are categorized, and are accessible from the Advanced editor. For an explanation of each function, and examples, see the Functions section in Appendix A: Expression syntax.
